Grab your popcorn and jellies, I am managing to stay off chocolate, for a trip to the movies. I love going to the cinema and have been to see a couple of movies lately so here is a list and what I thought…..
Hall Pass – starring Owen Wilson,Jenna Fischer, Jason Sudeikis and Christina Applegate
The story line is a couple of married guys are getting in trouble with their wives for not being like the perfect guy so they give them a free pass from marriage to get ‘it’ out of their systems. It was very crude humour which I found at times a little bit too much but there was maybe two funny parts. The usually funny Christina Applegate had too small a part to stand out in it unfortunately. The best thing about the film was Tyler Hoechlin.
This was a total guys film, i was half expecting a voice over to say ‘if Carlsberg did marriage’! So all in all it was a miss for me…..but here is a trailer
The Lincoln Lawyer – starring Matthew McConaughey, Ryan Phillippe and Marisa Tomei
Matthew McConaughey plays a Los Angeles defence lawyer conducting business from the back of his Lincoln town car whose latest client is the wealthy and spoilt Ryan Phillippe.
While it is not the most original of story lines it is an enjoyable courtroom style thriller with an intelligent dialogue. Also it was nice to see McConaughey give a strong performance in a different role and leaving his shirt on(actually I am in two minds about this) So worth going to see…..and here is the trailer
Battle:Los Angeles – starring Aaron Eckhart, Ramon Rodriguez and Michelle Rodriquez
Eckhart stars as a Marine Staff Sergeant who has just had his retirement approved who has to go back into the line of duty to assist a Lieutenant and his men to fight there way through the city of Los Angeles and reclaim it by fighting alien invaders.
A war/end of the world movie with aliens. The movie is very predictable with some extreme shoot outs with the aliens, who we get to see a lot of and they are well made. Lots of action and cliches but still an enjoyable movie experience, I have a secret like for these kinds of film. The soundtrack caught my attention from behind all the shooting and shouting and I have to say I checked it out when I got home and it is worth a listen, it was composed by Brian Tyler.
